Guidelines2Day

As a patent professional keeping up with latest patent praxis is of great importance. On October 25th EPO arranged the Guidelines2day Roadshow for professional representatives. The seminar was held by two EPO examiners, who were challenged by questions from our famous Derk Visser.

A general impression was that the EPO is really striving to shorten lead times by several means, which I personally consider will be beneficial for most clients as well as for the patent system in general. It was e.g. mentioned that the examiners are encouraged to facilitate the process by indicating possible patentable subject matter.

I also appreaciated the pedagogic explanation of the recent case law regarding priority (G1/15). Let us all hope that is now only a memory.
