FICPI Seminar

FICPI is an organisation for IP attorneys in private practice. In March FICPI Sweden hosted a seminar in Stockholm at "Westmanska palatset" with the topic "Will Computer Implemented Inventions (CII) dominate future patents?" with experts from EPO and the US.

Anders Ströbeck, Examiner at the section ICT EPO and participant in the CII Guidelines Wrkgroup for updating and clarifying the EPO guidelines concerning computer implemented inventions, informed about the work so far and the EPO's practice regarding mixed types inventions.

Dany Vogel, Patent Attorney and part-time judge at the Swiss Federal Patent Court, summarized the day with the conclusion "Yes, computer implemented inventions will dominate future patents" and that patent practice for handling such inventions is being harmonized in major relevant countries.

Thanks FICPI Sweden for the great day!
